Registration for the 2024-25 school year is ongoing for students in K-12. For change of address instructions, please see the bottom of the page.

2025-2026 FULL DAY KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION IS OPEN
NOTE: IF YOU HAVE STUDENT(S) CURRENTLY ATTENDING WALNUT RIDGE FOR PRESCHOOL YOU DO NOT NEED TO RE-REGISTER THEM FOR PRESCHOOL AT WALNUT RIDGE OR REGISTER THEM FOR KINDERGARTEN AT CEDAR MOUNTAIN, AS THEY ARE ALREADY IN THE SYSTEM AND WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE ROLLED OVER. REGISTRATION IS FOR NEW STUDENTS ONLY.
Important: In-coming Kindergarteners ONLY and if your child did not attend Walnut Ridge preschool...Please contact Dhalma Donovan at 973-764-4390 to make an appointment for the Dial 4 placement test. All required registration documents must be uploaded before appointments can be scheduled. (Current WR Preschool children will receive this test during their school day).

Vernon Township has six schools with grade levels as follows:
Walnut Ridge Preschool (Pre-K 3F and 4F)
Cedar Mountain School (Kindergarten and 1st grade)
Rolling Hills School (Grade 2 and Grade 3)
Lounsberry Hollow School (Grade 4 and Grade 5)
Glen Meadow Middle School (Grade 6, 7, 8)
Vernon High School (Grade 9, 10, 11, 12)
Kindergarten Students:
Children who will be five years old on or before October 1, 2025, are eligible to register for Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year.
Preschool:
Children must be at least 3 years old on or before October 1, 2025. This program is open to Vernon Township residents only. The program is a 6 hour session that is held 5 days a week. Please note that space is limited.
For Preschool Registration and Kindergarten the Nurse requires the following immunizations
* Immunization Records (Doctor’s certificate of immunization against the following):

4 DPT (Diphtheria, tetanus & pertussis) | DPT – 4 doses – Fourth dose must be on or after fourth birthday; if not, a fifth dose will be needed |
3 Polio | Polio – 3 doses – Third dose must be on or after fourth birthday; if not, a fourth dose will be needed |
2 HIB (Haemophilus influenzae type b) - 1 must be after 1st birthday | Measles (Rubeola) – 2 doses of a measles containing vaccine; the first dose must be after the first birthday |
2 Pneumococcal conjugate - 1 must be after 1st birthday | Mumps – 1 dose |
1 MMR (Measles, mumps, rubella) - must be after 1st birthday | German Measles (Rubella) – 1 dose |
1 Varicella - must be after 1st birthday | Hepatitis B – 3 doses |
AND Influenza - 1 dose each year given between September and December of the given year | Varicella (Chicken Pox Vaccine) — 1 dose after 1st birthday or documentation that child had the disease |
Note: A physical check-up from private medical doctor will also be needed prior to first day of school.

Steps for address change: email register@vtsd.com with new mortgage or lease document and a utility bill, with your name and children's name(s) with the date of change.
